Revealing City Hall

Through the ‘Revealing City Hall’ project, Hall for Cornwall hosted a programme of events and activities to share and celebrate the building’s rich history. Storylines helped capture the buildings history through the stories of people who have lived, loved and laughed within these walls through creating a series of digital stories.

The beating heart of Cornwall for over 170 years, Hall for Cornwall call Truro’s old City Hall their home. Built back in 1847, the building is Grade II* listed and full of secrets waiting to be shared. In 2018 HFC won a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant to do just that.

Building memories are always a fascinating way to capture the heritage of people and place. Many historic buildings have played countless roles in the community. The building memories we heard about for Truro City Hall included fat stock shows, the town hall, dances, fur and feather shows and operatic society events.
