Over the past few months we have run a series of half-day workshops that enabled peoples to explore and document personal memories of place. Since the first session in Marazion, we have travelled around Cornwall with our suitcases, spending time at Wheal Martyn Museum, The Exchange in Wadebridge and 2 Quay Street in Lostwithiel.
Each session was very different, but all were filled with laughter and chatter, as people shared memories of places and landmarks that have featured in their lives. It was amazing to discover so many links between peoples lives; shared narratives, passions and places. We love the connections that people make through sharing stories in this way, and it’s at the heart of much of our work at Storylines.
Memories were documented through writing, drawing, collage and photography, and combined into 40’s style folding letter cards. A beautiful memento of a special place to share with others.
We are yet to confirm a venue for the final workshop in this series, so watch this space! If you are interested in hosting this session, or have a group in mind, then please do get in touch.
These workshops are part of the ‘Landmark Travels- Our past in a suitcase’ project, funded by the Cornwall Heritage Trust and Heritage Lottery fund.
